I was trying to explain to my friends about the guest stars, and cameos, on Bojack Horseman. There wasn't a complete list, so I made a quick one.

Simpsons may have more guests, but for 3 years it is amazing to pull the like of McCartney, et al. And Martindale is a delight.

2017.07.30 19:49 unclefishbits I made a simple, updated, alphabetical list of all the guest stars, cameos, etc.

Feel free to add any, subtract, correct, add names of characters, etc. I was looking for one to explain to my friends how wild this show is, but there wasn't one. So thanks to Sunday morning, I did it. Not sure alphabetical is best, but whatever:

Hey Jesse, love modern family it always cheers me up. My question is, what advice would you give to the young teenage LGBT community who are going through difficult times either with coming out, being bullied etc? Well, i can relate to that. i was bullied a LOT growing up. I found activities outside of school that interested me. (Community Theater was my salvation). I think the most important thing to do is find people you are safe around and who you can talk to. The internet is a great resource now too. The world is so much bigger than it was when I was a kid. Facebook, Instagram, TrevorProject, Trevor Space are all great ways of expanding your universe and finding people who understand you.
Do you ever see you guys doing a Modern Family live episode? And who do you think could really rock a Tie The Knot? I don't see a live episode happening...but who knows? I think George Clooney need to rock a Tie The Knot Bow Tie...or Obama! I know they are both Marriage Equality advocates! Maybe POTUS will wear one on decision day in June!
Hi Jesse! I loved the episodes you did on Web Therapy. What was it like making those episodes? I'm obsessed with LIsa Kudrow. She was a dream to work with. Very collaborative. I was very intimidated by her when we started but she instantly made me feel comfortable...we basically just played all day on the Web Therapy set!
Hi Jesse! Is filming in mockumentary style more difficult than the traditional format? I LOVE performing for a live studio audience...but doing a show like Modern Family is great because it works a different set of muscles as an actor. I really enjoy the subtleties you can bring to the format of our show.
How can a small town suburban soccer mom support marriage equality? It's not an issue I relate to but I am for equal rights for all and am not sure how to show it! Thats great & you CAN relate to it BECAUSE you want rights for all! You can spread the word about accepting all people. I think the best way to support is thru love and acceptance. You can also buy Tie The Knot bow ties for your family and friends! :)
Hi Jesse! Thanks for doing this AMA. Did I see Justin in DC handing out bow ties and Save the Dates? You DID! we are so proud that he could be on the steps of SCOTUS for that historical day!!! It meant a lot to all of us at Tie The Knot to be able to be a presence on that day. Did you get a bow tie?
Hi Jesse! Thank you so much for everything you do for the LGBT community! Its because of people like you that we are finally getting the rights that we deserve. My question is, what triggered your desire to be an activist? Was it a specific moment in your life or was it just a general need for change? Having been bullied as a kid i really felt for people who felt marginalized or "less than". i wanted to use my new platform to help people. justin, my husband has been an amazing partner in helping me make those ideas a reality. he is equally passionate and has great ideas.
Do you defend pandas in court? Kidding. What's it like working with Nathan Lane? He's a comic genius. (Lane...not the panda). I feel so lucky that I get to work with him whenever his schedule allows for him to fly to LA and be on our show!
Hi Jesse! My boyfriend just introduced me to Modern Family a few months ago, and I have been binge watching to catch up! I was just wondering, what is the harshest thing you've ever experienced at an audition? How did you overcome it? You have to have a tough skin of you want to be an actor. I have heard everything from "you aren't talented and you won't make it" to "you aren't tall enough"... Best think is to know your self worth and have faith in your talent.
What is the best thing a director can do for you on set? Collaborate and be open to all ideas...even if they may see dumb. it's great to try stuff. sometimes the best ideas are born from things that seem ridiculous.
Where was favorite location to shoot Modern Family? We love traveling for the show. australia was really fun because it felt like a family vacation. also disneyland was a blast! Where should we go next?
Hi Jesse. Over past times, a lot of straight actors would play gay characters. Do you think has changed more over the years ? How would you feel about the opposite - acting a straight character role ? I think all actors should be able to play anything. we are actors. I have played straight roles and Eric Stonestreet is playing a gay role now. I hope that the stigma is slowly lifting.
Hi Jesse!!! I think you are an amazing actor and I admire your drive to fight for marriage equality; you seem to be full of passion and joy. I was wondering if that was always the case or if you ever felt - like so many of us do at times - that things would not get better? I always knew that there were people outside of my hometown that would love me for who I was. I also had a supportive family. Many people don't. I STRONGLY suggest as a resource if you are feeling alone. They are amazing.
What is like to do talk shows like jimmy fallon and ellen? Do you get nervous or are they laid back? Both Jimmy and Ellen are really nice and make me feel very comfortable but dong talkshows is always a little stressful.
I love the bow ties. I wear bow ties regularly, as a school teacher, and to able to look great and support a meaningful cause is incredible, I just wanted to thank you for that. Now for my question; Celebrity you've met who totally surprised you, in a good way!, with their demeanor and mannerisms? LOVE that you love the bow ties! Thankyou!!! Julianne Moore is one of the most gracious people I have ever met...not that I wasn't expecting her to be...but I am just such a fan of's nice when the people you admire are so lovely.
Hi Jesse, I'm asking this question on behalf of my fiancé. Who was the best person to work with on sytycd? Have you kept up with any of the dancers from the show? I LOVE everyone on SYTYCD but Cat and I have become very close. I keep up with Melanie, Nico & Ricky a bit. and I am good friends with Travis Wall!
How often do you hit the gym and what exercises do you do to stay in shape? Do you have fitness role models? I try and stay fit and active but I always wish I could do more...or look better. I like to eat too much! I'm a foodie.
Besides Modern Family, what other current TV series would you want to be part of? I am obsessed with Portlandia and Inside Amy Schumer. Also, I would love to work with Tina Fey and/or Amy Poehler someday.
Hey, Jesse! What's the funniest thing that's ever happened on any set you've been on? Also, what movie or show never fails to make you laugh? Thanks for doing this AMA. I love Modern Family! It was pretty funny when Sofia was supposed to say " "Manny why are you hanging upside down" and instead she said "Manny why are you hanging Sunny Side Up"
What's your least favorite type of person? A close minded person who feels they are u not capable of growth or change. a stubborn person.
What episode has been your favorite to film? I love shooting the wedding episodes. also the episode at the roller rink was really fun.
Is your relationship with Justin at all like Mitchell's relationship with Cam ? Not at all! i think i have to work harder on my "marriage to cam" than I do on my marriage to Justin! Ha!
Do you think the recent changes across the U.S. on gay marriage bans will ultimately change the minds of the Supreme Court justices to allow it to be legal? I think people can see that denying a group of minorities their civil rights is not a good thing. It is becoming harder and harder to justify.
Hi Jesse! I was just watching last week's episode today. So, what's the real value on your sofa? Only the set designers at Modern Family know that. I assume its not as much as the characters say it is.
Do you think it's cool if a girl wears a bow tie? YES! for SURE! what about in your hair? or around your neck...just as cool!
Who is your closet Broadway actor friend? BTW I'm flying from Japan to NY to see you on the Tempest!!! Already worried if I can get a ticket on that day... I have many! Celia Keenan Bolger is one of my besties. But I also am close with Idina Menzel, Audra McDonald & Lea DeLaria.
Hey Jesse, big fan! What has it been like to watch all the kids on Modern Family grow up? i.e. Nolan, Ariel, Rico, Aubrey, and Sarah? They are the greatest kids. They are all driving now! I want them to stay little!!!
Who are your acting idols? Madeline Kahn, Steve Martin, Robin Williams.
Which director would you love to work with in film at some point? My friend Liz Banks! She just directed Pitch Perfect 2.
Hey Jesse, huge fan! I was just wondering what your favourite Shakespearean Character is and why? I love the Dromios in Comedy of Errors. I also love Bottom in Midsummer.
Who is most like their character in Modern Family? I guess joe the baby and stella the dog.

Hi Lisa! What is the funniest thing to have happened backstage on Friends? One day we all brought our dogs to work. And I thought I left my dog in my room, with the door closed, I was downstairs on the stage rehearsing, and all of a sudden, my dog, a little poodle, came running and JUMPED onto my lap and stayed on my lap for the rest of the scene - for the rest of the run-through of that scene, in front of the producers and all of the writers!
Last time I brought my dog to work.
How much of Phoebe's musical compositions were adlibbed? Did you have any hand in the song writing? Also, you were my first celebrity crush! Its been killing me all these years, so I have to know. If a random 12 year old fan had sent you a letter asking you out on a date, would you have said yes? First of all, Phoebe's song lyrics were not ad libbed. The writers wrote them. And I got to come up with the tunes. How sweet you wanted to ask me on a date when you were 12! I was either getting married, just married, pregnant, or trying to raise a little boy while working, and didn't have a lot of free time for dates.
Who's at your dream dinner party? These questions... make me anxious, because there are too many people.
I would like to be there. Haha!
Some dead relatives. And actually, I think I would just limit it to an ancestor's family dinner, so I could find out what their life was like, and what they endured.
Hi Lisa, what are your favorite tv shows lately? Hmm.
I like Mindy Kaling, the Mindy Project. Oh! The Skip Gates Finding Your Roots show on PBS! (I know, I'm plugging another genealogy show, but...)
I like Getting On, that's on HBO. And GIRLS, I love. The Good Wife, Elementary... The Paradise. And that'll be good for a while.
Do you consider yourself a feminist? That's interesting.
I feel like the definition of that word keeps changing.
I'm always concerned about women and especially young women feeling good about themselves, and confident about making choices for themselves.
I don't know if that makes me a feminist or not.
Do you think your time at The Groundlings was time well invested? Also, what was it like working with Conan O'Brian in the early part of your career? The Groundlings was HUGELY important to me.
I think writing sketches is a fantastic writing exercise.
The most fun was working with Conan. Even more fun than working with Conan was watching him onstage, improvising, because he's lightning fast and ridiculously funny. Really inspirational.
Hey Lisa! Loved you on Friends! Was just wondering: what was your favorite song to perform on the show? Oh!!!
Okay: they all actually make me laugh really hard, somebody put them all together on YouTube, because I'd forgotten all the songs, and every time a new one came on, I laughed out loud, but I really liked the one for the kids, that starts "Oh the cow in the meadow goes moo..."
What did you like the most about being on Scandal? I really enjoyed you on there as Josie Marcus. Hmm. I liked...everybody there. The writers are great, the cast is amazing and not just because Dan Bucatinsky is my producing partner, Kerry Washington is extraordinary.
Have you seen Dan Bucatinsky's new show, Marry Me? If so, how are you loving it? Yes! Of course I watched Marry Me.
Do you think anyone who has never seen the first season of The Comeback will love the second season of it or do they have to watch the first one to understand the new season? This question was from my friend, Cynthia and she was your favorite on Friends growing up. :) I'm not sure you have to watch the first season to enjoy the second season. But I think it helps. And i don't think it's a bad experience to watch the first season, and it's on HBO on demand and HBO Go right now.
Isn't Lance Barber an amazing actor? Lance Barber is an AMAZING actor. YES. I do think that.
How did you prepare for the Friends role? Did you understand the character of Phoebe right away, or did you have to elaborate it for some time? Well, the audition piece was the monologue you see in the pilot. So that told me a lot about the character. And I thought it would be funny if this person didn't think that any of the stuff that happened to her was a big deal, and didn't that stuff happen to everybody?
If you had to pick out one episode of Friends as being your favourite overall, which one would it be? The Halloween party that Sean Penn appeared in. For a lot of reasons. Number one was it was the first show we shot after 9/11. And that whole week, while driving in LA, people would pull up, and give me a very sad look, and a quiet "thank you" for making them laugh.
Hi! When you were filming the scene in Friends where Pheobe flips out and starts swearing at the Pacman machine, what were you actually saying? Actually swearing or something else? Oh! I don't know if I was allowed to actually swear. We pre-shot that part, and I think I remember Kevin Bright, our executive producer, laughing and saying "I know, but no one should even be able to read it on your lips."I think I remember it happening.
How do you feel that TV has changed now compared to how it was in the 90s? There's so much more to choose from, and so much fantastic stuff to choose from. I really think the quality keep going up and up, as there is more competition. I think it's fantastic, a really exciting time in TV.
Hi Lisa - massive fan from the UK here. The Comeback - Valerie - holds a special place in my heart and just thinking about her makes me laugh. Question: Can Valerie please do a reddit AMA? Question for Valerie: If you could release a charity single, what song would it be, and for what charity..? Mark x. P.S How do I acquire one of these talking cardboard Cherish's?! Oh darlin'! You hold a special place in my heart too. All the way over there, cross the lake... POND! Pond, it's pond! And my charity single would be "Something for the Planet" to benefit the Planet. Always liked the song "Stir it up," don't remember who -- Chaka Khan? Well, you know the song.
Do people ever refer to you as Phoebe? And whats been the most awkward moment when they have. It's only awkward when someone says "Phoebe"... and then adds "because I don't know your real name." And THEN says "I haven't actually seen the show, but my friends say I should say that to you."
And THEN asks for a picture.
What has been you oddest fan encounter? At a restaurant, someone came over to me, very timidly, and said: "Excuse me, I'm sorry, are you...? Are you...Dionne Warwick?"
Who would you pick to play you in your Biopic? I have no idea, I've never thought about that. But do you know who played my character Michelle Weinberger in the prequel to Romy & Michele's High School Reunion? Katherine Heigl.
Which actor that you've met or worked with has been the most funny off-set? See, now, 20 people would be insulted... but because I spent 10 years laughing hysterically at Matthew Perry off-set, it's Matthew Perry. And not laughing at him, laughing with him, sorry!
How did you get into character to play Ursula, Phoebe's twin sister? Oh, believe it or not, Ursula felt VERY different to me, from Phoebe!
Um... for Ursula, whatever I had to say was cloaked in not-fully-understanding-what-I-was-responding-to.
Hi, Lisa! First of all, thank you for Phoebe. Friends has brought me so much joy and kept me laughing when I dealt with cancer as a teenager. My question: You were the only one of the six Friends who had a child during the show's run. Was that difficult? Was it harder for them to relate to you as a mom? ...Thanks! First of all, I'm glad we were able to keep you laughing during a tough time.
Here's what was difficult about having a child: when he visited the set, it was hard to be in character. Because i didn't want him to ever experience me as anything OTHER than his mother.
Hi Lisa, thanks for doing this AMA! Two quick questions- Do you wish friends would have lasted longer? Why or Why not? I loved doing FRIENDS. I would have been fine if we did it 10 more years, and it was great that we finished when we did, because I've loved everything I've done since.
Congrats on the Comeback comeback! In terms of satirizing reality television, how was the show changed since we last saw Valerie in front of the camera? Well, she's not on a sitcom. And we didn't have real big news for examining reality TV this time. But she will be on an HBO half-hour, written by Paulie G, playing a horrible version of herself.
Hey Lisa! I find your, and David Schwimmer's, goofy antics hilarious, how was it working with him and do you have any particularly funny memories where you two interacted? Take care of yourself! :) Hmm.
It wasn't just Schwimmer but all the guys did this, but Schwimmer made me laugh a lot when he did it...
I would start to speak, he would pump his hand in the air and say "shh shh shh." Still makes me laugh!
From gravity to evolution, Phoebe had some pretty radical and unique views. What personal view do you have that people would find radical and unique? And I think this is a radical and unique view of ducks.
Hi. Do you have a favourite videogame? Hmm.
I have games on my iPad. And right now I'm really having fun with Two Dots. But one of my favorites for all time is Drop 7.
What can we expect on this season? The show is so hilariously funny. Love it! This season, Valerie gets the wonderful prize of starring in an HBO series. But - she's playing Paulie G's nightmare version of herself.
